Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park covers an area of over seven hundred and fifty thousand acres, which is more than 3000 kilometres. That means the park is almost the size of Rhode Islands. It is not only the largest but also one of the least fragmented habitats in California. It attracts more than three million visitors every year.

You can find at least seven hundred different species of plants in the park. Out of these seven hundred, at least hundred and sixty are very rare. The unique soil and atmosphere of the park make it possible for these plants to survive.

This big park has thousands of small lakes and ponds, over two thousand kilometres of streams, over thousand kilometres of hiking trail and over five hundred kilometres of road.

Yosemite Park has a Mediterranean climate, which means a cold and wet winter and hot dry summer. Due to unfavourable weather conditions the park is closed from late fall to spring.

You can get involved in lots of activities in the park area. Until early fall you can take multiple day backpack trips. Bikers can rent their bike in the Yosemite Valley. Rock Climbing is also a very popular here.
